November 2021 Newsletter
Unfortunately, we have returned to Setting without being able to replace Sarah. We will continue to advertise, so spread the word. On a more optimisitc note, Heather (Esme’s mum), having being a member of the committee for a few years, has volunteered to help us out. The children have already enjoyed their first play with Heather, and Heather seemed to enjoy herself – so far!!
We have had a difficult 18 months battling Covid, minimum wage increases and spiralling costs. As a result, we have no choice but to increase some of our fees.
From January we will increase lunches to £2 per day. We feel this is still a very competitive price and feedback we receive shows parents are happy their child is getting a nutritious hot meal, especially over the winter months. If this will cause any financial burden, please speak to me privately.
Breakfast costs will remain at £1, however, we will increase after school snack to £1.50 each session.
Little Acorns fees will increase to £2.50 (£2 for a second child) and remain at £1 for babies under 6 months.
We hope that making these adjustments after Christmas will mean pre-school fees do not need to be increased in the near future.
Obviously Covid has affected our fundraising substantially. Our first fundraising event at Sheep Fair was a success, however, we need to keep going, and so ask for everyone’s help again.
We will be holding our, now annual, Christmas Hamper Raffle. I am a great believer that the ‘C’ word should not be spoken before December, however, Masham Christmas Fair is to be held on 4th December. Therefore, we need to be organised before this date.
As in previous years we will be holding a lucky dip of festive treats for each family to contribute to the hampers. This will begin next week, so that all contributions can be gathered in ready to be made into hampers.
If anyone have any baskets they no longer need, we will be happy to take these off your hands.
Nearer the time we will be asking for help to sell raffle tickets at the fair and another date later in the month at the Coop.
We held our AGM last Wednesday and have managed to fill all the necessary positions. Judy remains as Chair, David has taken on the Vice-Chair position, Diane remains as treasurer, and after several years on the committee, Vicky has agreed to be our secretary. Welcome to all our newcomers, David, Becky, Rebecca, Lisa and Hayley.
The weather has turned considerably colder. We still expect to play outside for up to 1 ½ hours at a time. Some children are less active than others. Please could we ask that ALL children bring a warm winter coat, hat and gloves/mittens – named please!
Our last day at pre-school will be Thursday 16th December. There will be NO breakfast or after school club on Friday 17th December. All pre-school children are invited to attend our party on Friday 17th, in Acorns, 10am – 1pm. More details nearer the time.
As always, if you have any queries, please give us a call or speak to your child’s key person.
